papermaking

papermaking was initially intended as a preparatory process for printmaking projects, but soon it emerged as an art form of its own. The materials used include crepe paper from a textile factory; oranges and aloe pulp from a juice shop; achira leaves and grass from a relative's garden; horchata tea leaves, coffee, beets, amaranth from the market; toquilla straw from a hat museum; wood shavings and sawdust from a sawmill; and newspaper from home. This series has been produced in New York and Ecuador since 2018.
